Bismillaharrahmanarraheem. The Quran-based Journal is a project of like-minded individuals who believe that the Quran can shed light on everything. Intellectuals attempting to publish such research often face difficulties in academic journals who avoid discussing religion in matters of science, while they face disapproval from more traditional Islamic academics who have a stricter view of doing such tafseer of the Quran.
An example of this difficulty can be expressed in terms of a recent PhD candidate at an Islamic university who wished to do his thesis on leadership in the Quran. He was faced with ridicule that there was not enough for a PhD thesis. After being denied multiple times, he finally produced a paper of over 400 pages. This again faced strong resistance because it contradicted earlier scholar's views.
Many other Muslims face similar problems. In one case, one of the authors in this project was asked who gave him the ijaza to find solutions in the Quran.
The Ummah is facing an acute crisis and the only solution is for us to go back to the Quran and Sunnah. This journal will attempt to insh'Allah break through the mind-numbing idiocy and ignorance on the one hand, and the secular barrier of Western academic journals on the other.
