How they Pacified Muslims

Scholars have argued that the Roman Empire changed the teachings of Jesus in order to pacify it. They could not deal with the revolutionary teachings of Jesus which came to overthrow injustice, overturned the economic system and give justice to the poor, so instead they hijacked it and pacified it.

"That's when the 'peaceful' Messiah story was invented.

"Instead of inspiring warfare, this Messiah urged turn-the-other-cheek pacifism and encouraged Jews to 'give onto Caesar' and pay their taxes to Rome."

An American biblical scholar 'Atwill' writes: "Although Christianity can be a comfort to some, it can also be very damaging and repressive, an insidious form of mind control that has led to blind acceptance of serfdom, poverty, and war throughout history.

To this day, especially in the United States, it is used to create support for war in the Middle East."

But it was not just Christianity that was pacified by colonial empires. Islam too was pacified and neutralized in the exactly the same way.

Instead of a Prophet PBUH that came to fight oppression, overthrow tyrants and free slaves, he has become a smiling pacifist monk, who never offended anyone. Islam was taught as a religion of hippy like pacifist and peaceful monks. The new version taught under the watchful eye of colonial masters created a warped focus, a re-prioritisation of Islam, in effect making it impotent and without any ability to change the world.

Rituals became all important, the pillars became the be all and end all of Islam. Verses in the Quran lost their meaning and were given new ones. For example the verse "We created mankind only to worship" was no longer seen as a command to uphold justice (the highest form of worship) but instead simply sitting and praying.

A practicing Muslim no longer was a man who upheld the great ethics of Islam, but one who had a beard, wore certain clothes and prayed regularly. The warped and pacified version of Islam was backed up with even more twisted arguments such as "Perfect yourself first before helping others" ..the logic was so twisted as what it really meant was "be selfish, think of yourself, let me suffer while you get your rituals straight" - the exact opposite of the great ethics mankind respected in Islam.

The re-focus meant that Basics of Islam was stripped of any higher cause, and only meant getting your rituals in order. Poverty, hunger, world oppression, slavery, wars, ethnic cleansing, demonisation were all out - as the new colonial version did not consider them "basic" enough.

Hence you can see Muslims quick to anger over petty matters but silent on the giant ethical questions of the day. Their whole religion was now a religion of rituals instead of the great ideals and ethics that the slave masters feared most.

Empires have always tried to use religion to pacify the masses, and in the case of Islam and Christianity - for the most part - they succeeded.
