Charles W. Freeman Jr., former senior diplomat and former potential appointee to the National Intelligence Council, reacted strongly against his character assassination by the Israeli Lobby. Held in high regard by the Director of national Intelligence, Dennis Blair, Freeman was cited for "his long experience and inventive mind". Freeman voluntarily withdrew his name from selection after realizing the futility of the assignment with the Israeli Lobby essentially in political power in Washington.
Freeman, however, did not go silently. Recalling George Washington's farewell address
against developing a "passionate attachment" to the strategic goals of another nation, Freeman stated that he was withdrawing his "previous acceptance" of the chair to the NIC because of the character assassination by the Israel Lobby.
"The outrageous agitation.. will be seen by many to raise serious questions about whether the Obama administration will be able to make its own decisions about the Middle East and related issues.. It casts doubt on its ability to consider, let alone decide what policies might best serve the US rather than those of a Lobby intent on enforcing the will and interests of a foreign government...
"The aim of this Lobby is control of the policy process through the exercise of a veto over the appointment of people who dispute the wisdom of its views…and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by Americans and our government other than those it [the Lobby] favors."
Freeman stated that he is withdrawing from appointment because he felt that the National Intelligence Council would not be able to function if he was appointed, given the constant attacks from the Israeli Lobby.
Jonathan Chait, an Israeli Lobby shill who spent the last week feigning denial of Israel being the source of the attacks on Freeman now changes tune. According to Glen Greenwald, Chait now states: "Of course I recognize that the Israel Lobby is powerful, and was a key element in the push-back against Freeman."
Daniel Pipes now gloats of what has transpired:
"What you may not know is that Steven Rosen of the Middle East forum was the person who first brought attention to the problematic nature of Freeman's appointment.. Within hours, the word was out and three weeks later Freeman has conceded defeat. Only someone with Steve's stature and credibility could have made this happen."He of course, is referring to the Steven Rosen who is on trial for violating the Espionage Act related to his transfer of classified information to Israel.
Israeli dual-citizen and son of a former terrorist, Rahm Emmanuel, famous for sending dead fish wrapped in paper to people, was allegedly the point-man for the "Freeman Campaign".
The Israeli Lobby, no more merely the most powerful lobby but now the Sole Super Power in Washington is continuing its growth even deeper into the intelligence community. In other words the influence of the Israel Lobby is seeping ever deeper into the ranks of the intelligence community.
It certainly must be embarrassing for Americans and the US intelligence community to see their President bow to the Israeli Lobby.
